Classes of the Second-year MA Students of the Caspian Higher School of Interpreting and Translation with Liam Long, Leading European Commission Interpreter

Liam Long, the senior interpreter of General Directorate for Interpretation of the European Commission, visited the Caspian Higher School of Interpreting and Translation once again.
From 19 to 21 October, he gave the classes to the second-year master students. In the classes, the students practiced consecutive and simultaneous interpretation, made up their own speeches and acted as speakers, as well as got a valuable experience of communication with the native speaker.
During the lessons, they discussed such hottest topics as the political situation in Myanmar, the reinforcement of China’s presence in Africa, the terrorism, the colonization of Mars, the difficulty of obtaining visas in different countries and others.
Liam Long gave some useful advice to the students on presentation of interpretation and evaluation of its quality; he also emphasized the importance of compliance with the logic and the ability to analyze the perceived information when interpreting.
Since the Caspian Higher School of Interpreting and Translation was launched, Liam Long has been actively cooperating with it, helping the master students to improve theirs interpretation skills.
