Virtual class with the European Parliament!
On March, 3 the MA students of the Caspian Higher School of Interpretation and Translation had a virtual class with the European Parliament. This time all four interpretations were performed into Russian (from French and English). The VC participants were the first year MA students, Diana Kadyrmatova, Anna Shcherbakova and Olga Kulakova, and the second year MA student, Maria Avdaseva. The English speeches were devoted to the ways to improve one’s studies and to the corruption in Ireland. The French speakers presented speeches about the role of antibiotics as well as about the disappearance of bees and the reasons of this phenomenon.
The European Parliament interpreters commented on the MA students’ interpretation and noted some shortcomings and mistakes such as repetitions, omissions of some information or too literal interpretation of the sentences which should be formed in Russian with the use of different means. But according to our Brussels colleagues in general all the MA students dealt with the task and rendered the sense and main ideas of the original speeches.
