The cooperation between the Caspian Higher School of Interpreting and Translation and Kazan Federal University provided KFU master students with a unique opportunity: in 2014 there was announced admission to on-line master program, and within its framework the Caspian Higher School of Interpreting and Translation professors train simultaneous interpreters among Kazan students. Our professors attended admission tests, thus participating in selection of master students for this program. Kazan master students’ classes are conventionally divided into two units – classes with KFU professors and classes with the Caspian Higher School of Interpreting and Translation professors, which are carried out on-line.

That is what Gulnara Abdrashitova, on-line master program student, says: “I’m happy to take part particularly in the on-line master program. Despite such a program imposes a double burden on us and we have almost twice as much homework and classes, I really enjoy studying. I like that I can sip knowledge at two different sources, it makes the process much more interesting. The most difficult subject that the Caspian Higher School of Interpreting and Translation professors teach us is simultaneous interpretation. It’s not just interpretation, it’s an art. Before entering the master program, I had had no idea it’s so fascinating.

In addition to intense on-line classes, we got a chance to visit the European commission and the European parliament directorates for translation and interpretation in the summer 2015. However, we also had practice in a new academic year. We finally arrived in Astrakhan, where we were welcomed warmly and hospitably. For a week, we had been attending simultaneous interpretation classes and had been practicing in interpretation booths. The professors gave much attention to us and we are very grateful to them.

Besides studying, we managed to find little time to get acquainted with the city, we visited the Kremlin and the embankment, we got a plenty of pleasant impressions!

The classes go on as usually. We hope we will visit Astrakhan again and not just once. And we are awaiting for the Caspian Higher School of Interpreting and Translation professors and master students to visit us in Kazan”.
