Video Conference with the DG LINC of the European Parliament
On February 3, the Caspian Higher School of Interpreting and Translation hosted the annual video conference with the Directorate-General for Logistics and Interpretation for Conferences of the European Parliament. MA students of the first and second year as well as trainers of the Caspian Higher School of Interpreting and Translation attended the event.
The students performed consecutive interpretation from three languages: English, French and Russian. The main speakers were interpreters from the European Parliament and trainers of the Caspian Higher School of Interpreting and Translation. Ekaterina Shamova, CITS trainer, prepared a speech in Russian. She touched upon the topic of “supersonic passenger planes”, while the European Parliament interpreters made a comparison of bottled and running drinking water in European countries and talked about how people can make themselves happier.
Consecutive interpretation was mainly performed by second-year students. However, Valentina Alekseenko, the first year graduate student, gained a great experience of consecutive interpretation from French.
This class was an opportunity for students to get feedback about their performance from the European Parliament experts. It has also become the great practice for the second-year students before the state examination. They will show all their knowledge and skills, they have got in the Caspian Higher School of Interpreting and Translation during their study.
As a result, students had valuable recommendations from interpreters of the European Parliament and detailed feedbacks from their trainers.
