CITS Staff Takes Part in Memorable Event in Honor of Great Iranian Poet Ferdowsi
On May 14, Astrakhan Tatishchev State University, supported by the General Council of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Astrakhan, held a meeting dedicated to Ferdowsi, a great Persian poet. Schoolchildren of Astrakhan Linguistics Gymnasium, students of the Faculty of Foreign Languages and the Faculty of International Relations, and international students of ASU participated in the event. CITS staff member Dmitry Marshalkin also joined the meeting.
Mahbood Fazeli, a professor of the Persian language and literature at Al-Zahra University, moderated the event. Besides, Mehdi Akuchekian, the General Councilor of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Astrakhan, gave a speech at the meeting.
The event was dedicated to Ferdowsi’s biography and writings. Mrs. Fazeli told the guests about the early days of the poet, and MA student Danil Kushaev gave a speech on the importance of Ferdowsi’s masterpiece Shahnameh. Persian language second-year students read an abstract from the Shahnameh dedicated to the adventures of Zal. At the end of the meeting, the guests watched an excerpt from a Shahnameh symphonic concert.
