Thus our latest course Inclusive Communication: Basic Course on Interaction with Hearing- and Visually Impaired People has come to an end. The Russian sign language (RSL) classes attended by libraries and theaters staff were held from March 27 to April 7 at Caspian Higher School of Interpreting and Translation as part of Linguistic Inclusion Ecosystem project. The trainees learned the Russian sign language basics during the course period.CITS Contributes to Inclusive Communication in the Region

At the end of the course, they got acquainted with the cultural patterns of the deaf and hearing-impaired communities as well as RSL basic vocabulary topics and mastered the dactyl alphabet. In addition to the basic topics, the participants studied the themes required for their professional activity. The topics of culture and library were added to the course program. Libraries and theaters staff now can actively use the acquired knowledge not only in everyday life but also at work when communicating with deaf or hearing-impaired visitors.

We are eager to inform you that from April 17 the RSL course for beginners will start. If you have been hankering to learn a new language, then the Russian sign language is a perfect choice.

We hope that this project courses will contribute significantly to linguistic inclusion development in Astrakhan region, and the knowledge and skills acquired at the classes will give an impulse for the Russian sign language promotion among Astrakhan residents.
