Caspian Higher School of Interpreting and Translation Has Switched Over Distance Learning Mode

In order to further ensure coronavirus prevention measures, Astrakhan State University top-management decided to transfer students to distance learning. Interaction between students and teachers will be provided exclusively via electronic information educational environment.

Trainers of the Caspian Higher School of Interpreting and Translation held a methodological meeting, and now they are ready to give lectures and practical classes on consecutive and simultaneous interpreting online.

The difficulty was only to remotely organize training conferences, where interpretation is performed simultaneously into several languages.

Our long-time partner, Belgian company Televic, came to help us in this difficult situation. Televic designs, manufactures and installs high-tech communication systems for specific niche markets. We received a letter offering free use of the new improved interpreter Q Media Player application, which allows to prepare interpreting exercises and send them to students, record MA students’ performances for simultaneous and consecutive interpreting exercises, and also evaluate the interpretation and add feedback for the interpreters in the recording.
