ZmOgWb4pBqY_1In 2016 the Caspian Higher School of Interpreting and Translation welcomed new Master students – future interpreters and translators, who have two years to study all the nuances of the profession they have chosen, realize themselves and choose further direction of their professional activity. They are about to have interesting classes, masterclasses and hard interpreting and translation practice, and, though Master students have only studied for a week, they are ready to tell us so far, why they have chosen the Caspian Higher School of Interpreting and Translation, how they find the classes and what they expect from their further study. Svetlana Parshina, the first year student of Master translation course «Theory and Practice of Translation in Professional Communication»:
«Master course. When we were pursuing our Bachelor’s degree, these words caused some contradictory thoughts. Five years of study were coming to an end, and that was the time to decide, what to do next. As I got my Bachelor’s degree in Pedagogics, I wanted to try myself in something new, and I chose translation.
The entering a Master’s degree program seemed quite a challenge with strenuous efforts, time and energy needed. That was the truth. Our preparation included everyday news following, reading and listening to authentic texts and training exercises for simultaneous and consecutive interpretation. But the main element was, of course, an aspiration and eagerness. This combination was productive, and here we are – Master students! The exam turned out to be an excellent challenge, and every applicant showed, how serious it was for him or her and their level of preparation as well.
How was the first week? Of course, we were waiting for getting acquainted with the groupmates, teachers and new disciplines. And that was so great to sit at the desk again, prepare the home assignment, and most of all – to improve yourself in thing you really like and explore a new sphere – translation profession. A big amount of tasks showed us how serious the profession we have chosen is. But despite the demanding requirements we didn’t lose our motivation to study and to broaden our outlook, it even increased».
Anna Lisitskaya, who also entered the Master translation course at the Caspian Higher School of Interpreting and Translation, speaks about the reasons of her choice: «To my mind, self-development is realized exclusively through education. That’s why I decided on entering the Master’s degree program. Master course isn’t just about the prestige. It lets you gain knowledge, understand and decide what sphere to be involved in, in the future. Master course «Theory and Practice of Translation in Professional Communication» lets you not only study translation theory, but to get real experience in translation. We have topnotch trainers, working with us, who manage not only to provide us with the core information, but to explain the essence of the key aspects to every student as well; they touch upon the real situations and translation problems in detail».
Arina Neustroyeva shares her positive emotions about entering the Master course as well: «The teachers are real professionals and masters. Many issues, which seemed so unclear, are obvious now thanks to them.
The study at the Caspian Higher School of Interpreting and Translation is certainly an invaluable experience, which will help students to find themselves. Now, when we left the obstinate training months, worrying exam and the first study week behind, we can say for sure, that we are happy to study at this School, and beyond a shadow of doubt, Master course will give us irreplaceable knowledge in interpreting and translation and high value practical experience for our future professional activity».
