Conference Interpretation Training by a DG SCIC Interpreter at the Caspian Higher School of Interpreting and Translation
At the classes, the students honed their skills of simultaneous and consecutive interpretation and received valuable advice on their further improvement.
In his speeches, prepared for interpretation from English into Russian, Liam Long dwelled on the issue of preserving aquatic bioresources, which is especially relevant for Astrakhan region, and also discussed with the MA students some advantages and disadvantages of air travel services, provided by low-cost airlines.
Besides, Liam Long worked with groups of the first and second year students individually: the expert explained the principles of the interpreter’s note-taking technique to our first-year students and, giving advanced classes to our graduates-to-be, emphasized the key points they should pay attention to when preparing for the final exams.
In addition, the exchange students from INALCO that are studying this semester at the Caspian Higher School of Interpreting and Translation also had an opportunity to attend the classes and work in the booth with the French language.
The April CI master class by the DG SCIC interpreter was fruitful and useful for the students, and Liam Long once again noted a high level of training of MA students at our School.
Such classes are or great value for our MA students, as they allow to work with world-class interpreters without leaving Astrakhan region and to get practical recommendations on improving interpretation skills.
