An intensive training course on consecutive simultaneous interpreting for specialists within the VII Translation Forum Russia
On July 1, 2016, the VII Translation Forum Russia is opening in Astrakhan. The Caspian Higher School of Interpreting and Translation is a privileged partner of the Forum and, therefore, for the occasion, from 28 to 30 June, our professors have conducted an intensive training course on consecutive simultaneous interpreting for specialists who had arrived from different parts of Russia (Ekaterinburg, Samara, Chelyabinsk, etc.), Ukraine, Belorussia and Kazakhstan.
During the introductory course, Olga Egorova, the Head of the Caspian Higher School of Interpreting and Translation, told the participants about the peculiarities of teaching in our school, noting that the methods of both Russian and foreign schools are successfully applied to train conference interpreters. In addition, the participants performed consecutive interpreting without notes and simultaneous interpreting of vocabularies and speeches within the frame of “Economics” module.
The format of the training course incorporated group and individual work aimed at improving interpreting skills and give an insight into advanced methodologies of interpreting training, widely used at the Caspian Higher School of Interpreting and Translation. The program included careful studying of vocabularies in different modules and development of consecutive and simultaneous interpreting skills through working with texts on different subjects such as oil and gas industry, economy, business and finance, policy of the European Union and the Russian Federation, power industry, energy security, unconventional energy. Moreover, trainers suggested the group doing some exercises to improve memory and concentration. At the end of the training course all the participants took their final test and were awarded with the Certificates of Completion. Undoubtedly, this training course is an excellent opportunity for participants not only to enhance the professional skills, but also to gain valuable experience from leading interpreters and trainers of the Caspian Higher School of Interpreting and Translation!
