Accreditation test
On April 20-24, the MA students of the Caspian Higher School of Interpreting and Translation had new classes withLiam Long, our frequent guest fromthe Directorate General for Interpretation of the European Commission. Apart from classes in simultaneous and consecutive interpreting, Liam had another mission – totell the students about the accreditation test procedure. As you know, the Directorate General for Interpretation is searching forhighly qualified specialists. The next round of the accreditation test with Russian in the candidates’ languagecombination will be heldin January 2016, in Brussels, Belgium. In order to participate you should make an application in advance.
Indeed, preparation is a crucial stage of the test. Besides the language proficiency, your awareness of the accreditation test procedure matters a lot. Liam Longtold how he preparedfor the test and howlongit took. Besides, you should take into account some nuances that are of little significance at first sight: the order of language combinations presentation, capability to control your emotions and readiness to perceive recorded video and audio texts.
Those, who are interested in the test procedure, can get more information on the European Commission website: http://ec.europa.eu/dgs/scic/documents-terminology-and-bibliography/video-and-sound/video_sublibrary_scictrain.htm.
There one can find videos of leading interpreters telling the candidatesabout potentialdifficulties, givingexamples of interpretations andsuggesting resources usefulfor the preparation for the test.
We wish success to our graduates, who will aspireto passthe accreditation test in 2016!
