Virtual class with the European Parliament on May, 28!
On May, 28 we had a virtual class with the European Parliament with the participation of four MA students of the Caspian Higher School of Interpreting and Translation. Diana Kadyrmatova and Liliya Petrova consecutively interpreted from English into Russian and Anna Shcherbakova and Olga Kulakova interpreted from French into Russian. This time the European Parliament interpreters prepared speeches on women’s representation in the political life of different countries, famous French women among politicians, new technologies which allow to use heat from the sea to heat houses, and an unusual topic of banana harvest decrease and possible consequences of this problem. The European Parliament interpreters noted a good student’s level of preparation for the virtual class and, in general, they were pleased with the students’ performance.
Moreover, our guest from the Linguistic Support Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Vladimir Lakeev attended the virtual class as well; he also commented on the students’ interpretation.
On June, 6 the MA students of the Caspian Higher School of Interpreting and Translation will participate in another virtual class with the European Parliament; that virtual class with be the last one in this academic year and its languages will be English and French again. On June, 6 we are also waiting for our guest – a leading interpreter of the European Parliament Ilga Berzina – who will hold interpreting classes with the MA students and will be a member of the examining board on the final interpreting exam of the second year MA students.
