Mock-conference with Professor Bruce Leimsidor

Recently Bruce Leimsidor, a specialist in migration law, a teacher of the subject in the Ca’ Foscari University of Venice and just an interesting person, has arrived at Astrakhan State University. During his visit, Professor Leimsidor holds lectures for the students of Astrakhan State University, explaining in lay words and at the same time in details the reasons, consequences and solution prospects of the
migration crisis in Europe.
It should be noted that on the 31st of March the MA students of the Caspian Higher School of Interpreting and Translation were lucky to be his listeners; they organized their meeting in the form of a mock-conference playing parts of interpreters, journalists and even foreign politicians. Certainly, the performance of Professor Leimsidor was the drawing card. However, many students also marked the presentation of the first year MA student Irina Matveeva, who performed a role of German politician Anton Hofreiter. Irina managed to perform not only as a brilliant orator, but also turned out an excellent German speaker.
Beyond that other 1st year MA students, Ekaterina Nathina and Alina Van-Gui, delivered the speeches and managed to get the feel of their characters – popular Russian social and political figures Svetlana Gannushkina and Anna Pavlova.
This form of meetings are of great importance in the interpreters training, because it`s not just an interpreting exercise, but also a possibility to prove under real-life conditions, broaden their horizon and develop their creative potential.
