Graduation ceremony-2014 of the Caspian Higher School of Interpreting and Translation!
On June, 17 the Caspian Higher School of Interpreting and Translation held the Graduation Ceremony – 2014! A lot of officials took part in the event: Acting Rector of Astrakhan State University Galina Stefanova, Vice-rector for International Relations Nikolay Khurchak, Vice-rector for Economy, Finances & Development Tatiana Khramova, Head of Unit of Master Courses Lyudmila Yakovleva, Vice Governor of the Astrakhan Region Galina Zoteeva, Minister of Education and Science of the Astrakhan Region Vitaliy Gutman, Director of the Linguistic Support Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Teimuraz Ramishvili; besides, we also had foreign guests – Director General for Interpretation of the European Commission Marco Benedetti, Head of Unit of Multilingualism and Interpreter Training Support Claude Durand, Head of Unit for Multilingualism Support of the DG Interpretation and Conferences of the European Parliament Susanne Altenberg, Head of Unit for Human Resources of the DG Interpretation and Conferences of the European Parliament Christine Bahr, Consul General of the Republic of Kazakhstan Askhat Syzdykov, Acting Consul General of the Republic of Iran in Astrakhan Hamid Zangane, Chairman of the Astrakhan branch of the All-Russian Azerbaijani Congress Adalyat Guseynov, and many others. Other equally important guests of the ceremony were teachers of the Caspian Higher School of Interpreting and Translation and the Faculty of Foreign Languages. And, of course, the most important guests were parents of our MA students who have been supporting them during these 2 study years and, as the students correctly noted, without their parents it would have been impossible to graduate from the MA program.
During the graduation ceremony our official guests delivered welcoming speeches expressing gratitude to the Head of the School Olga Egorova for initiation and development of the MA program; they also wished luck to the graduates in their interpreting and translating career. Olga Egorova also prepared a presentation for our guests about main achievements of the School and development prospects; then she showed a fragment of the video shot by the international TV and radio company MIR about the Caspian Higher School of Interpreting and Translation. The School graduate expressed acknowledgements as well and thanked the organizers and teachers of the Caspian Higher School of Interpreting and Translation for the given opportunity to study in such an interesting, informative and effective training program for interpreters; they also thanked their parents for enormous support and help. At the end of the ceremony 14 MA students were awarded with diplomas (four of them got diplomas with honours) and according to the tradition they threw graduates’ hats in the air.
