9bXz7xaWLkYAt the beginning of July, Astrakhan hosted a great international interpreting and translation conference that united interpreting and translation experts from more than 50 cities of Russia and from a dozen of other countries. The forum was a platform for lively discussions, sharing experience and demonstration of new technological developments in interpreting and translation industries. The participants got the opportunity not only to listen to the key reports but also to take an optional interpreting course organized by the Business Bureau of the Association of Interpreters, as well as a simultaneous interpretation training course held by the leading trainers of the Caspian Higher School of Interpreting and Translation.
This year our School was a TFR privileged partner, so we also did a great job in organizing and holding this great interpreting and translation event. The School graduates and trainers participated in the forum as interpreters, and during all three days they provided simultaneous interpreting for the forum foreign participants – Geoffrey Westgate, the Head of WIPO Support Section, Natascha Dalugge-Momme, the President of the FIT Europe, Nicolas Stuyckens, a delegate of the Belgian Chamber of Translators and Interpreters, and Orlando Chiarello, the Product Support Manager of Secondo Mona, an Italian aerospace equipment manufacturer. Despite such responsibility, the School representatives coped with the task properly, and our foreign guests got only positive impressions from the forum.
jRTRIVociokMany participants also marked out well-coordinated teamwork of the organizers who got invaluable help from the forum volunteers – MA students of the Caspian Higher School of Interpreting and Translation. There was quite a lot of work for our students: they were in charge of participant registration, organizational issues and even excursions!
Translation Forum Russia 2016 was really a remarkable event of this summer. During three days, the leading experts shared their experience, spoke about interpreting and translation market peculiarities in Russia and abroad and gave valuable advice. We hope this forum will motivate our MA students and graduates to continue enhancing their skills in such a hard work of interpreters and translators.
