Virtual class with the European Parliament

On 20th September a virtual class with the European Parliament with the participation of the second-year master students was held. The students were interpreting from English into Russian and vice versa. The topics of the speeches were various as usual. The European Parliament interpreter Ann Forder talked about Brussels and the European Green Capital Award. She also spoke of how to use social networks to «influence» human thoughts. Our speakers- Yulia Ibragimova and Elena Yakovleva – prepared speeches for interpreting from Russian into English on the topic of electrocars and the Russian symbols. Of course some mistakes and drawbacks were inevitable while interpreting, but the European Parliament interpreters pointed out that all in all the master students succeded in the exercise. The first-year students were also present at the class, and soon they will take part in this kind of classes as interpreters.
