Xpd0JW5jAZoThe MA students of the Caspian Higher School of Interpreting and Translation took another opportunity to participate in a virtual class with the London Metropolitan University. The virtual class took place on April 6. Various issues were addressed. It was a great challenge for the future specialists because the ability to switch between topics is one of the mainskills of a professional interpreter. There were Russian, English and German speeches; the variety of languages made it possible for everyone to practice consecutive and simultaneous interpretation. The first speech addressed the problem of difficulties in translation and interpretation which is quite urgent for young specialists. The trainer of the Caspian Higher School of Interpreting and Translation Uliana Savelieva not only warned young interpreters and translators about possible mistakes in the profession but also explained how to avoid them. Next speech was in German and told about strikes at different German enterprises. The structure of the speech was quite peculiar because the topic was told on behalf of a child. One of the speeches on working relationships was interpreted consecutively by the first year student of the Caspian Higher School of Interpreting and Translation Rufina Izmailova.
She did it for the first time and succeeded greatly. The virtual class was conducted in a friendly atmosphere. The trainers of both universities shared opinions on students’ interpretations, offered advice and shared their experience with young interpreters. The MA students of the Caspian Higher School of Interpreting and Translation were happy to work with London colleagues again and train interpreting skills.
