Internship in the Directorate-General for Interpretation of the European Parliament
From March to August, 2014 Victoria Tinakina, a graduate of the Caspian Higher School of Interpreting and Translation, undertook an internship in the Directorate-General for Interpretation of the European Parliament. Victoria shared her impressions:
“During the internship I actually saw the work of the European Parliament. When MA students, we touched upon the work of the European Union and its Institutions for many times but only when you come there, you understand what is really going on here. I was lucky to meet with outstanding interpreters, who shared their work experience and gave useful pieces of advice. I also managed to attend a plenary session of the European Parliament in Strasbourg and to observe how political decisions are made.
There were some more than 300 interns, who were chosen out of more than 1000 candidates! It is a unique opportunity to meet and communicate with the young specialists and graduates from all over Europe. These international internships help to break the stereotypes, which could exist with regard to any nation. It was great experience, first of all from the professional point of view.”
We wish Victoria further success and we wish the Caspian Higher School of Interpreting and Translation’s students to keep on studying hard because there are a lot of unique opportunities awaiting for them in the future. Victoria is a good example of it.
