Virtual class with the London Metropolitan University

On November, 26 the MA students of the Caspian Higher School of Interpreting and Translation took part in a virtual class with the London Metropolitan University. The subject of the class was very urgent for the modern society – the issues of migration. The second – year MA students of the Caspian Higher School of Interpreting and Translation took part in a virtual class. Diana Kadyrmatova and Maria Dedesova interpreted the speeches of our teachers Nataliya Kabakova and Yuliya Ibragimova from Russian into English. Anna Scherbakova and Maria Chuyan interpreted from French and English into Russian respectively. The subjects of the speeches were role of immigration in the modern society, risks of emigration and new actors of migration management in the era of globalization. Speakers of the London University told us about migration as a “tool for political manipulation”. The students of the London Metropolitan University also did consecutive interpretation of the speeches. In spite of the telecommunication fouling, the students managed to interpret and got feedback from their teachers from Astrakhan and London.
