On 13th November we had a virtual class with the Boğaziçi University (Boğaziçi Üniversitesi). For the first time our first year students took part in such lesson. Liliya Petrova was interpreting from Turkish into Russian. As our teachers pointed out, she did quite well and managed to interpret the speech successfully; the student was also pleased with the class.

As for our second year students, they were dealing not only with the “traditional” interpreting from English into Russian (Aliya Batyrova), but also with the interpreting from Azerbaijani into Russian (Alfiya Musyakaeva). The students also managed to interpret properly.

The speakers touched upon the issues of the Turkey-Azerbaijan relations, the Winter Olympic Games in Sochi and 2015 European Games in Baku and also Edward Snowdenand his scandalous revelations. As we can see, the topics presented by the speakers were quite different; this fact stresses the challenging task of the interpreter – he/she is to know everything what is happening in the world to renderthe information correctly and fullytothe audience.
