CITS Graduates Make ASU More Inclusive
The Welcome Day of the College of Astrakhan Tatishchev State University took place on December 4. Prospective applicants and their parents learned about the variety of vocational pathways available, the strategies for entering the college and the learning experiences of those studying at the college now. After the presentation, the audience had an opportunity to talk to the director and professors of the college. In order to make the event accessible to all schoolchildren of our city, graduates of the CITS courses interpreted the speeches into Russian Sign Language.
The Welcome Day was the first experience of RSL interpretation for some of the graduates. The newly minted interpreters said they realized how comprehensive Russian Sign Language is. Angelika Polyanina, an RSL native speaker, helped our course attendants to show the developmental vector and structure their experience after the event.
We hope that linguistic inclusion will keep developing in our university and will provide all students with equal access to information and education.
