CITS Staff Takes Part in St. Petersburg International Economic Forum

The St. Petersburg International Economic Forum took place on June 15-18, and our colleague Veronika Zharavina took part in it as a volunteer.

Veronika found information about the forum on the website of the Association of Volunteer Centers, submitted an application and got an approval. She passed online training in Astrakhan, and upon arrival in St. Petersburg, she went on excursions and attended workshops together with other volunteers.

“Along with English proficiency, the volunteer’s work required us to be sociable, responsive, and able to solve issues which sometimes seemed unsolvable, for example, to find the lost diamond earring or guest’s suitcase.”

At the Forum, Veronika worked as an info desk volunteer and helped guests, both foreign and Russian, with their questions.

Veronika also shared her experience of working with other volunteers:

“In addition to my great experience in volunteering and working with foreigners, I also made friends with guys from different parts of Russia – from Moscow to Vladivostok – and we still keep in touch!”

Veronika is not the first employee of CITS to attend such an interesting event: one year ago, Polina Tulyakova, a lead specialist of the school, learned the nuances of international etiquette while working at the forum with a delegation from Qatar.
