CITS and ASU Staff Provide Linguistic Support for International Business Forum

On December 12–13, ASU held a meeting with a delegation of the Islamic Republic of Iran as part of the Astrakhan–Gilan Business Forum. The forum brought together the authorities of Astrakhan Region and Gilan Province, Iranian and Russian businesses and major companies. 

The official visit included a meeting of the delegates, attended by ASU Acting Rector Igor Alekseev and Governor of Gilan Province Asadollah Abbasi. Denis Afanasiev, Deputy Chairman of the Government of Astrakhan Region, was also among the meeting participants.

Upon the request of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Astrakhan Region, language support for the meeting was provided by our interpreters: Arseny Danielyan, an MA student of CITS and an ASU lecturer, and Danil Kushaev, an MA student of the ASU Faculty of Foreign Languages and an attendee of the CITS conference interpreting course.

The interpreters showed a high level of competence, provided smooth communication between Russian and Iranian representatives, contributed to the Forum and facilitated close ties between the countries. Signing of the memorandum of understanding between Astrakhan Tatishchev State University and Gilan University of Medical Sciences was a capstone of the meeting. The signed MoU is to ensure further bilateral cooperation in various areas.
