CITS’s Strong Ideas for New Times
The Caspian Higher School of Interpreting and Translation took part in the regional phase of the forum “Strong Ideas for New Times”, which was held at Astrakhan State University under the auspices of the regional office of the Agency for Strategic Initiatives (ASI) on October 19, 2020. In July 2020, ASI announced the launch of the forum named “Strong Ideas for New Times”. Previously, there were no events of such format in Russia; 25,000 ideas were submitted from all over the country. Over the past month, the experts from various public and private sectors had been evaluating the projects submitted, and 1000 best ideas were selected based on the results of that assessment.
93 ideas were submitted from the Astrakhan region, and five of them were ranked amongst TOP-1000 best ideas.
CITS’s representatives also seized the opportunity to speak about the new project “Sign Language in an Inclusive Environment”. The project addresses the issues of training of highly professional sign language interpreters in Russian sign language and, subsequently, in international sign languages. One of the main goals of the project will be not only the preparation of professional staff, but also making the further use of them, when organizing full-fledged inclusive education at universities. CITS’s specialists received recommendations from the Agency for Strategic Initiatives’ representatives on how to improve this project. All those present in their turn supported the CITS’s project and agreed that now it has acute social importance.
