CITS Takes Part in Annual CIUTI General Assembly and Conference
Being a member of the International Standing Conference of University Institutes of Translators and Interpreters (CIUTI), the Caspian Higher School of Interpreting and Translation participates in the key activities of the association on a regular basis. This year was no exception – Director of CITS Uliana Savelieva and CITS trainer Olga Egorova took part in the CIUTI General Assembly and CIUTI Conference, which were held online in early December 2020. Within the General Assembly, the members listened to an annual report on the activities of the organization, voted for the accession of new institutions and discussed some working details regarding CIUTI activities. They also outlined plans for the preparation to the CIUTI Conference 2021, which will be held at the University of Granada, Spain, in September 2021.
The second key event, held on December 9-11, was the CIUTI Conference, this year dedicated to artificial intelligence in translation and interpreting. The participants discussed such issues as intercultural intelligence and its impact on the process of intercultural communication at the current stage of social development, artificial intelligence and multilingual services, specificity of “understanding” machine translation for better analysis and assessment of its quality, current trends and challenges of teaching translation and interpreting and a number of other issues. CIUTI members paid special attention to the issues of inclusion in translation and interpreting.
