Science and Interpreting: CITS Hosts a Meeting of the Commission for Science and Technology

On October 11, Astrakhan hosted a meeting of the Commission for Science and Technology within the framework of the 26th Assembly of the Association of the Universities and Research Centers of the Caspian States. This event was held at CITS and gathered representatives of the academic community, researchers and heads of scientific institutions from Russia, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Turkmenistan and Iran.

One of the key factors of the meeting’s success was the work of the interpreters, who provided high-quality simultaneous and consecutive interpretation in Persian-Russian, Russian-Persian, and English-Russian language pairs.

Dmitriy Marshalkin, an active CITS translator and interpreter, and Arseniy Danielyan, a teacher of ASU Faculty of Foreign Languages and a CITS alumnus, provided linguistic support for the commission meeting. Ekaterina Shamova, chief CITS specialist, was in charge of the coordination of interpreting activities.

The meeting discussed topical issues of cooperation in science and education, including joint research projects, student and faculty exchanges, and the development of innovative digital technologies in educational institutions. Interpreters provided high-quality interpreting of speakers’ speeches and participants’ questions, which helped delegates to have an active dialog.
