For many years now, Nikolay Telnov, an interpreter of the Russian booth of the UN Office at Vienna, has been conducting master classes with CITS students. Unfortunately, this year the classes are being held only online due to the pandemic, but this does not affect their productivity. The texts with which our interpreters-to-be worked at another online master class were connected with the Arab-Israeli conflict and the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People.

Julia Goverdovskaya, a second-year student, shares her impressions:

“This is our first class with a UN expert this semester, and last year we also worked online. During the session, we did sight translation and managed to work through three speeches and then ask questions and receive valuable recommendations and useful advice; next time, we will continue to work with the texts and will practise simultaneous interpretation of both prepared and new speeches”.
