CITS participated in the “Museum Night – 2021”

As many people already know, Caspian Higher School of Interpreting and Translation of Astrakhan State University hosted an intensive course in Russian Sign Language and Deaf Culture Interpretation, which was attended by students and teachers from both Astrakhan State University and other educational institutions of Astrakhan. But they have not stopped there, but continue to expand their knowledge in this area. In which way?

CITS is diligent in establishing cooperation with various organizations in Astrakhan that are effectively engaged in developing inclusion and creating a barrier-free environment. Among them is the Astrakhan State Picture Gallery named after P. Dogadin, where course graduates were invited to participate in the International event “Museum Night – 2021”. They presented V. Tsoi’s song “Peremen” performed in sign language, and also took part in a tour conducted in Russian sign language as part of the project “Color Sounding”. It was very exciting for the guys to perform in front of native speakers, and it was especially pleasant to be acknowledged and complimented by their audience, including Tatiana Borisova, the chairman of the Astrakhan branch of the All-Russian Society of the Deaf: “We want to thank you all for your sign song. Our [native speakers – deaf and hearing-Impaired] were delighted, they were all happy that we have those willing to learn sign language”.

The guys have big plans to continue learning Russian sign language, and CITS has big plans to organize new courses, hold new events and develop cooperation not only with regional organizations, but also Russian and international ones. Join in!
