ASU Students Learn the Basics of Braille at CITSIn late December, the Caspian Higher School of Interpreting and Translation conducted the first workshop on studying the Braille system for students of the Faculty of Foreign Languages. Braille, a raised dot font, is getting widely spread; it is used by the blind, visually impaired and deafblind to read and write. However, CITS believes that everyone should know the basics of this system, along with the NSL basics, because it provides barrier-free communication. This is the way everyone will be heard and understood. The school prepared and conducted a lecture where the students learned about the origin of Braille, looked at its Russian version, and identified the difficulties arising in learning and using this system; they also tried reading Braille. We hope this knowledge will help enhance the students’ communication opportunities and they will continue to learn Braille in 2022.
