On 4 March 2020 ASU Caspian Higher School of Interpreting and Translation and London Metropolitan University organized a video conference that had become a tradition.

The class provided the students with anopportunity to practice both consecutive interpretation and simultaneous. The subject of the meeting was Brexit.Danielle D’Hayer, London Metropolitan University trainer, made a speech about Brexit influence on EU citizens living in Great Britain after the end of the transition period. Dmitry Krutilov considered the issue of Brexit influence on the relations between Russia and Great Britain, Russia and the EU, Great Britain and the EU.

Xu Yujie, ASU Chinese trainer, drew participants’ attention to the fact that Brexit would affect not only the further development of European countries but also Asian ones. The speaker focused on the possibilities of new and fruitful cooperation between China and Great Britain in financial area.

CITS and London Met students also had a chance to interpret simultaneously in the booths. At the end of each interpretationthe trainersanalyzed the interpreters’ strengths and weaknesses, quality of their work and presentation.

The first-year students have started to master this type of interpreting activity only a short time ago.
