Igor Babushkin, Governor of Astrakhan Oblast, Checks CITS’ Educational Capacities
January 25, Russia traditionally marks the Students’ Day. Igor Babushkin, head of the Astrakhan Oblast, paid a visit to ASU as to congratulate the students on this wonderful occasion. Our guest got a chance to take a tour around the University’s units. For instance, Mr. Babushkin was familiarized in more detail with areas of work as well as with the resources used at Caspian Higher School. The head of the region not only checked out the equipment, but also had a look at the simultaneous interpreting booths from inside.
CITS staff and ASU rector Konstantin Markelov informed the guest about the main areas of work at CITS. Our guest learned about the achievements of Master’s students, whose high qualification allows them to participate in the terminological project to replenish the WIPO Pearl database and provide simultaneous interpretation during international visits of government delegations and meetings of the UN and European Parliament.
“The graduates’ skills will surely prove useful as the Astrakhan Oblast hosts the Second Caspian Economic Forum in 2021”, emphasized Mr. Babushkin.
