The Color That Sounds: CITS Participates in Events on Developing an Inclusive Environment

On September 7-8, the Caspian Higher School of Interpreting and Translation took part in events aimed at developing an inclusive environment for deaf and hard-of-hearing people. The Dogadin Astrakhan State Art Gallery hosted an exhibition of paintings, done by schoolchildren of the Astrakhan State Boarding School for Special Need Children and members of the regional branch of the All-Russian Society of the Deaf within The Color That Sounds project. The visitors were also shown a video guide and an interactive kiosk that shows stories about the paintings of the gallery for the hard-of-hearing and deaf people. The chair of the regional branch of the All-Russian Society of the Deaf gave a tour in Russian Sign Language. Furthermore, CITS representatives and its partners discussed a few projects on developing an accessible linguistic environment which the school plans to implement in the current academic year.
