MA students of the Caspian Higher School of Interpreting and Translation are at work!

The International industrial forum «Astrakhan-Saxony: innovative technologies for shipbuilding, general machinery and port industrial enterprises modernization» was held on March 15-18, 2016 in Astrakhan. The business delegation of Saxony (Germany), consisting of twelve representatives of German enterprises in the areas of engineering tools, paint systems production, welding and carnage equipment, IT-service and representatives of Promotion of the Saxon land economy department came to our city for the participation in the forum. First-year and second-year MA students of the Caspian Higher School of Interpreting and Translation, Irina Matveeva, Alexey Zadubovskiy and Karine Esayan, had the opportunity to interpret at this forum and demonstrate their consecutive and simultaneous interpretation skills. Plenary meeting was opened with the performances of Governor of the Astrakhan region Alexander Zhilkin and the official representative of the Saxon land department Manfred Liebl. Minister for industry, transport and natural resources of the Astrakhan region Radik Kharisov and Director general of special economic zone Sergey Milushkin gave their reports as well. Svetlana Shcherbakova, an interpreter of the German delegation, came to Astrakhan as well. Working side by side with such a specialist was valuable for MA students’ professional growth. Business talks were held in B2B format after the plenary part; the representatives of German companies met with the Russian partners and discussed the possibilities of further cooperation. In the course of the talks partners exchanged contacts for common projects realization. In terms of the visit the delegation attended leading enterprises of machine-building industry, shipbuilding and ship-repairing yards like «Lotos», «Krasniye Barrikady», «Galaktika» and ports as well. The representatives of German companies were particularly interested in the possibility of «Lotos» shipyard inclusion to the special economic zone. During the private meeting with the rector of Astrakhan State University the director of the Welding Engineering institution Martin Streiberg expressed his hope for cooperation in the area of highly-qualified specialists’ training and students exchange program organization. The forum participants said that the Astrakhan region is a potential German companies’ partner. Alexander Zhilkin reminded the guests, that the region opened huge opportunities for the residents of the special economic zone due to its unique geographic location.
