MA students of the Caspian Higher School of Interpreting and Translation at the XVI FINA World Championship!
MA students of the Caspian Higher School of Interpreting and Translation were engaged into volunteering activities at the XVI World Aquatics Championships in Kazan. The graduate of the Caspian Higher School of Interpreting and Translation Kulakova Olga shares her impressions of this event:
“I think I had the most interesting task – I was working with the Interfax agency, we interviewed the athletes right after their performances, we translated their replies into Russian and made flash quotes that were stored in a special database, and journalists could use them in their articles. The translation and interpretation skills that I have developed in the Caspian Higher School of Interpreting and Translation allowed me to cope well with everything I was supposed to do; the journalists were satisfied with my translations and gave me the title of “the lead volunteer interpreter”.
I had a chance to be not only an interpreter but also a sports journalist, to talk with famous swimming and diving athletes. It was incredible to see the emotions they experienced right after the performance: there were tears of joy and tears of disappointment. Every time when I saw a quote that I had worked with in sport publications, I was overwhelmed with the feeling of pride and satisfaction with the work done. ”
