From 20 to 23, October, the International student forum on students’role in improving the quality of education was held at Astrakhan State University. Three second-year MA students of the Caspian Higher School of Interpreting and Translation:  Aleksey Zadubovskiy, Karina Kulova and Anastasiya Antonova took part in the forum. The preparation for the forum was rather challenging: the speeches were amended several times but we managed to present our School with honour and share our experience and impressions with the students both from Russian and foreign universities as the forum had an international format.

It is the MA students, who can tell about the innovations of the educational process. At the forum opening we briefly presented ASU students’ opportunities in the formation of education environment having paid much attention to programs of SCO University, Asian Education Platform and the Caspian Higher School of Interpreting and Translation. We were granted an opportunity to introduce the educational process offered by the Caspian Higher School of Interpreting and Translation, speak of our participation in training process engaging ourselves in group sessions and giving feedback to each other, participating in video-conferences, doing internships at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, the UN, the European Commission and Parliament.

We had an opportunity to introduce interpreting resources like Speech Repository and Speech Pool to the forum participants. The resources enable to widen our knowledge and engage into the education process formation.

Moreover, Anastasiya Antonova shared her experience of studying at INALCO University (France) and we became aware that both ASU and INALCO had many similar aspects of educational process providing students with good chances of self-developing and education of the highest level. We are sure to adopt the best practices of our French colleagues because it is never late to learn!

Our participation in the student forum was a great chance to share our educational experience of being MA students of the Caspian Higher School of Interpreting and Translation. We hope that some of the students who have taken part in the forum will be enrolled to the Caspian Higher School of Interpreting and Translation and get a unique chance to become professional interpreters and translators.
