The Caspian Higher School of Interpreting and Translation is a member of the International Standing Conference of University Institutes of Translators and Interpreters (CIUTI)!

On June, 23 during the session of Astrakhan State University Academic Board the representatives of the International Standing Conference of University Institutes of Translators and Interpreters – the CIUTI Honorary President Hannelore Lee-Jahnke and the CIUTI Secretary General Martin Forstner – awarded the Caspian Higher School of Interpreting and Translation with a certificate on CIUTI membership and passing of international accreditation on interpreter training programs in Astrakhan State University. CIUTI is the most prestigious university conference in the world which has training programs for high-class interpreters and translators. CIUTI membership means that linguistic and interpreting education in the Caspian Higher School of Interpreting and Translation meets the best global standards. We have been pursuing this aim for three and a half years; the accreditation procedure was very difficult.  Back in 2010 we prepared a report on self-examination (about 70 pages in English), in 2011 the rest of necessary documents were prepared as well. In April 2012 two CIUTI experts came to Astrakhan State University to assess interpreting programs functioning. To complete the accreditation procedure it was only necessary to test the first graduates of the interpreting master program which was done by one more expert in April 2013. Following the results of the expert’s visit and report the CIUTI Assembly finally decided to induct our university into CIUTI. Therefore we became one of four Russian universities accredited by this organization. Cooperation with CIUTI gives us an opportunity for network interaction with the best universities all around the world as well as with all main international organizations which need specialists with language competence, interpreters and translators. Mrs. Hannelore Lee-Jahnke and Mr. Martin Forstner personally helped the Caspian Higher School of Interpreting and Translation to establish partnership relations with the DG Interpretation of the European Commission and European Parliament, with linguistic services of the United Nations Organization and other interpreting and translating services and European organizations.
