CITS Staff and Course Participants Do an Internship at the All-Russian Society of the Deaf
CITS staff and attendees of the beginner’s course Basics of Russian Sign Language and the Culture of the Deaf are doing an internship at the Astrakhan branch of the All-Russian Society of the Deaf, a nationwide public organization of people with hearing disabilities.
It’s known that theory only is not enough to learn a language, so it’s necessary to nail down the knowledge gained through communication with native speakers. This allows our students to better grasp the information and easily apply it in communicating with the deaf and hard of hearing people.
Besides, the skills acquired during the internship will allow them to provide language services to people with hearing disabilities in daily life. For example, they can facilitate communication between a doctor and a patient, as well as in other everyday-life situations.
