CITS MA Students Learn to Provide First Aid
From December 14 to 16, 2020, CITS T&I students learned to provide first aid in the framework of the joint project between Astrakhan State University and Astrakhan regional branch of all-Russian public organization “Russian Red Cross” to teach the population the basics of first aid.
The classes were very intensive: in addition to theory, a great deal of attention was paid to the practice of providing first aid. On the first day of classes, MA students learned how to properly perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and call an ambulance. The students practiced all the knowledge they gained, learning to behave in different situations, correctly assessing the situation and providing first aid so as not to harm the affected person.
The nuances of how to deal with a conscious and unconscious affected person were taken into account, and the specifics of CPR during a pandemic were discussed. On the second day, the trainers briefly covered the history of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement. On the third day, the MA students analyzed various types of injuries, bruises and fractures, learned how to apply splints, correctly respond to a heart attack and an epilepsy attack.
At the end, students were waiting for an unusual practical exam, where they confirmed their knowledge and skills. Now CITS MA students are ready to help in any situation, having received the appropriate certificates as a proof.
