CITS Representatives Took Part in the Business Game “Translation Unites Professionals”
For several years now, the Association of Translation Teachers has organized the business game “Translation Unites Professionals”, which brings together schoolchildren, language students and practicing translators and interpreters from all over Russia.
This year’s event took place on October 2 at MISIS National University of Science and Technology in Moscow. The participants were divided into different teams to give them an opportunity to meet and work with future translators and interpreters from different parts of the country. Young specialists of our school, Veronika Zharavina, student of the Faculty of Foreign Languages, and Polina Tulyakova, CITS MA student, took part in the game as part of the Red Team and came in second place.
As part of the game, they visited stations on terminology translation, law, translation ethics, legalization of documents, and took part in a simulated interview at Literra Translation Company. After the competition, they attended an interpreting workshop by Mr. Marklen Konurbaev.
According to the participants, the event was extremely useful and interesting, and the feedback received at each of the stations allowed them to become more familiar with all aspects of the work in T&I. They particularly praise the interpreting workshop, where all participants were introduced to interesting exercises for practicing translating and interpreting skills, and were given the opportunity to participate in them under the guidance of Mr. Konurbaev.
