CITS and LUNN Hold Their First Joint Master Class on Interpretation

On April 29, trainers of the Caspian Higher School of Interpreting and Translation held a master class on no-note consecutive interpretation for students of the Linguistics University of Nizhny Novgorod as part of a planned series of virtual classes.

During the virtual session, interpretation students got acquainted with specific features of this type of interpretation and discussed the main difficulties and mistakes which might arise during no-note interpretation. Then CITS trainers demonstrated a staged example of “bad” and “good” interpretation, after which LUNN students tried their hand at no-note consec, interpreting a speech from Russian into English, and received feedback and valuable advice from both CITS representatives and their own professors – Vadim Sdobnikov, the Head of the Department of Theory and Practice of English Language, and Tatiana Volkova, Associate Professor of the Department of Theory and Practice of English Language, who also took an active part in the master class.

The meeting was very fruitful for everyone. The next master class for our students, this time – on translation, will be prepared and held by LUNN experts.
