In may 2013, some  MA students of the Caspian Higher School of Interpreting and Translation – Victoria Tinakina, Irina Imakova, Anna Levchenko – had  an internship in the UN linguistic service for the first time.  The Russian language is one of 6 official UN languages, and so the master program graduates will have a real opportunity to apply for a job in the largest international organization.
Astrakhan interpreters showed a proper spirit and level of training at the internship.
Olga Egorova, Director of the Institute of Language, said: “During the business trip to Geneva in January 2013 I made a final agreement with the UN Interpretation Service  on participation of the  second – year MA students in the competition to gain an internship in technical and political  simultaneous interpretation. Upon my arrival, we applied for the competition, and 4 students passed the competition and were invited to an internship from 29 April to 13 May.”
The internship gave the students an opportunity to train more for the accreditation test that gives right  to work for the UN and which they will take after graduating in June this year”.4
