img_7706_0Astrakhan is traditionally a platform for hosting international sport events. It hosted the Women’s Handball Qualification Tournament last year, and this spring within the framework of the Water Polo World League the city has been a venue of the return match between the Russian and Greek women’s teams. In this regard, MA students of the Caspian Higher School ofInterpreting and Translation were invited to work as volunteers in order to provide interpreting support.
During two days, the master students accompanied the Greek team as well as referees from Italy and France. Moreover, they helped hold a pre-match press conference. This event allowed the first-year MA students (Nazerke Nurjangali and Polina Karabalaeva) and their more experienced colleagues, the second-year MA students (Karina Askhabova, Alina Van-Guy and Polina Shelukhina) to get new interpreting skills.
According to the calendar of the sport events, Astrakhan will host several sport contests in 2017 as well. The master students of the Caspian Higher School of Interpreting and Translation will be pleased to take part in such events in order to contribute to the sport life of our country and the whole world!
