Olga Egorova Makes a Presentation at the Conference “100 Years of Conference Interpreting”

In October 2019, Olga Egorova held a number of meetings and negotiations on behalf of the CITS at international organizations in Geneva. Olga Egorova was one of the keynote speakers at the conference “100 Years of Conference Interpreting” hosted by the International Labor Organization (ILO). The conference was dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the first instance of using conference interpreting methodology at the international level. In her presentation on modern trends and technologies for simultaneous interpreters training in the world’s best interpretation schools, Olga Egorova particularly focused on “Blended learning” and blended learning technologies, i.e. traditional and virtual methods, and their effect on interpreters’ future career. The CITS teacher also said that in the modern world fewer and fewer graduates have a specific range of knowledge and skills for one profession. There is an ever-increasing demand for specialists with diverse competences, who can work not only as interpreters, but also as diplomats, PR specialists, and engineers with a foreign language knowledge, etc.

The CITS focuses its students’ attention on the need to have knowledge in diverse fields and to continuously improve it by learning new things.
